My name is David Brewer, a sophomore at UMBC. I live relatively close by in Annapolis, MD, my hometown, where I work for an IT contractor that ends up putting me all over the Baltimore-Washington area. However, while my work is important, if I had to choose one of the most important aspects of my life, it would be travel. My parents took me to Europe when I was about twelve and it totally changed my outlook of the world and I realized how much I enjoy visiting unfamiliar places. I made a commitment to myself this year to travel more and ended up visiting Boston and Montreal when my schedule allowed. This winter I’ll be returning to Europe to visit friends in England and Belgium. Technology is my talent and my career, but the opportunity to travel, particularly abroad, is what I work for.

David- Montreal has a 2 week jazz festival every June/ July. I went there in 2005 and there were over 500 free concerts during the festival. It's a great way to experience Montreal.Music everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI've been to Montreal before too! I went two summers ago and it reminded me so much of when i visited Europe. It's great because going there is like going to Europe but its so much closer and you have the comfort of people speaking English.
ReplyDeleteWhere else have you traveled? I love to travel and was in Europe this past summer. I've been a lot of places and plan on going to India next December.
ReplyDeleteI very much admire that you are into technology. I happen to love to travel myself and my own Europe tour when I was 16 definitely changed my life as well.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in England. It's such a beautiful place. There's a town where they make Wensleydale cheese from raising the cows and all. I have to say, it is the best tasting cheese I've ever eaten.
ReplyDeleteI'm also interested in where else you've traveled, and maybe which place was your favourite place to have traveled to?
Wow I am actually going to Europe next summer! I am going to many historical locations around Europe dealing with the Second World War. I am a history major so when I saw this tour was available I jumped on it. I also love traveling and I wish I could travel all around the world! The problem is finding the job that lets me do that! Haha!
ReplyDeleteIf i could afford to travel i would totally go to ireland first. You ever been there? I heard its so cool.
ReplyDeleteJim - I did see posters for the Jazz Festival while I was there, however I had just missed it. However, the Osheaga festival was going on while I was there. It's actually funny, I didn't realize until I saw a metro poster that a band I was going to see at Merriweather the day after I returned home was in Montreal playing at that festival.
ReplyDeleteTo address some of the other comments, I have been to a number of countries in Europe, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Monaco. Monaco was far and above my favorite place to visit. At the time I visited the Monaco Gran Prix was going on which if you're unfamiliar is the famous Formula One race through the streets of the city. Not to mention it is a beautiful city on a hill alongside the Mediterranean that is just overflowing with luxury everything.
I've always wanted to go to Montreal! Do you speak french? I think it'd be easier to go there if you speak french, though if you don't, it'd still be a great experience!
ReplyDeleteIt is very cool that you like to travel to unfamiliar places. I, myself, try to visit different places whenever I get a chance. Your background picture of the wing is awesome.
